  • This 1 inch tall phenolic thermoset plastic spacer insulates your carburetor against manifold heat keeping it cooler and helps prevent fuel percolation (also known as vapor lock) in hot weather. This can also allow for a denser fuel mixture to help increase performance in some applications, as well as provide additional plenum volume. 4-hole design is design for GM (General Motors) Quadrajet 4-barrel carbs and may also work with other spread bore design carburetors. Gaskets, studs, washers and nuts are included.

      We have a 65 Mustang. I tuned that thing up within an inch of it's life but when it was hot it did not want to start! Instead it acted like it was flooded and emitted a large cloud of smoke when it finally did start!Finally I ran across a fellow at a car show that told me he had experienced the same problem. He told me that the gas was getting hot in the carburetor and boiling over into the intake (engine temps do go up after the engine is turned off). This made since so I bought this carb spacer to isolate the carb from the hot engine. The car now starts good even when warm and we no longer produce that big cloud of smoke!Check the air cleaner clearance before ordering. I had some detailing clay that I placed on top of the air cleaner. Closed the hood and found that I had a little over an inch of clearance.Some hints on installation (particular to the Mustang but could be helpful). You will need to get some longer mounting studs.
