  • This Spectre High Performance Racing (HPR) Air Filter is a red media clamp-on filter that can be used for a wide variety of applications. Using the included adapter rings, this filter can fit 3 inch, 3-1/2 inch, and 4 inch diameter tubes. Manufactured using high quality materials throughout, including oiled synthetic media, urethane, and steel mesh, this washable performance filter is precision engineered for low restriction and better performance. This filter's top houses an inverted cone filter for improved service life and enhanced flow potential. Designed with a triple chrome plated steel top and base, this 9-1/2 inch tall air filter is factory pre-oiled and ready to use.

      I was hesitant to use a filter that wasn't K&N since I've used them for decades in performance vehicles. However, this time it was for an old truck with 400,000km on it, so I figured I'd take the chance, and it doesn't disappoint! First of all: The old airbox on my truck was broken when I got it years ago. Being that it's just a "utility beater", I just removed the air box and stuck the paper air filter on with RTV (there was no other way to get it to go on because it slips over the end of the tube and the engineers just assumed the air box would always be there to hold it in place). HOWEVER, this Spectre filter has a lip where it slips over the end and comes with a clamp! No more RTV hack! Appearance: It looks good. A little bit flashy without trying too hard. On an old truck with 400,000km, it's the first thing your eye goes to when the hood opens. Performance: I wouldn't say I got any more "power" out of this, but it smoothed out my idle (can't even tell it's running once it warms up) and the truck seems more responsive, especially when stabbing the gas off the line or hauling a load up a hill. Definitely worth it. In the future when I need another nice, washable air filter... I will look at Spectre brand along with K&N and just go with whatever is a little bit cheaper at the time!
