This is a good balancer once I got it on. The hole was a few thousandths undersized which required a little filing for it to fit on my forged crank.

My only complaint is that the item is made in China which I did not know at the time, (I later noticed this can be seen in the online picture casted next to a part number) , but seems to be made well.

The rubber inner coil was not pressed cleanly in between the metal parts where the two ends meet. The OE one was clean and smooth around. Hopefully the rubber not being fully seated will not lead to premature failure.

Great price on this crank pulley. Fit perfectly on 1999 Honda Accord EX 2.3L. The only problem is that it came with a woodruff key that did not match the original. It was much shorter so I had to purchase a Honda woodruff key separately for about $8.00

The new harmonic balancer fit perfectly. No more pulley wobble. Install was easier than expect, but I had an impact wrench to take the bolt out. The most difficult part of the job was installing the new pulley without using the Chrysler install tool. Here's what I did:I went to a hardware store and bought a M10 1.50 bolt & nut, which is what the thread inside the crankshaft was ('97 T&C 3.8L). The bolt needs to be at least two inches longer than the bolt you removed to allow for space to add a nut and several thick washers (washers should be about 2.0" diameter). Place the HB on the crank snout and VERY gently tap it so that it stays. Be sure the HB is straight. Thread the nut all the way on to the new bolt, then add the washers (place a little grease between the washers). Then thread the bolt into the crank snout until it stops (i.e., it is threaded all the way in). Then use a wrench to slowly turn the nut so that it compresses the washers onto the...

OK well I just replaced my old failed harmonic balancer with this one within the last week. In terms of quality, it seems good, no complaints there. Fit was perfect, price was great compared to new one from Jeep. I really can't say anything bad about this item.I haven't driven much with it but so far so good. The old harmonic balancer was separating, that is the two metal parts of it have hard rubber between them, and the rubber part was degraded which caused part of the balancer to rub on the front of the engine timing cover which was a metal-on-metal squealing noise, it was awful. FYI this was for my 1988 Jeep Comanche 4.0L truck.

Had to replace our harmonic balancer after finding the old one was dropped on the floor or beaten too hard to remove when the previous shop replaced the timing belt. The damages were causing the belt to be chewed up on the side, slowly ripping it apart. The replacement did a great job in fixing this problem and went on smoothly without a hitch. I did apply grease where indicated by honda so the next removal will be just as easy as it going on.

This is the second exact items I purchased in 3 months. The first one failed right away. They should last forever. So I want to give zero stars to the first one (also a Dorman). When it failed, the parts place had to refund it because this part was on back order. It had been very hard to find anyone who carried it and now they couldn't get it. On a fluke I checked AutoPartsWAY. They had it in stock with free delivery! AutoPartsWAY gets 5 stars.

Like the another reviewer I found this pulley did not fit on the crankshaft. After close inspection I realized that the slot in the pulley that fits over the woodruff key in the crankshaft was machined too tight.I knocked out the woodruff key in my crankshaft and headed to the work bench with the key and the pulley. I used a steel file to enlarge the width of the slot in the pulley until the key fit snuggly for length of the slot. (I.E. The key would slide up and down the slot the same was it would during install.) I also sanded the bore of the pulley a small amount as well with ~300 grit sandpaper. It took me about 15mins, and I was being patient and careful.NOTE: The pulley does come with a new woodruff key, but did not fit the slot either. After the careful detailing the pulley slid on perfectly, and is working great. So, it's unfortunate that it was machined from the manufacturer incorrectly. But with a little work it is still a...

I installed this on my 96' Explorer w/ 4.0L OHV. It was difficult to get on the crankshaft spindle, but I suppose any new part will be. Everything worked fine right off the bat, but then I started to get belt squeal. I cleaned the pulleys and sanded the belt, and I noticed that the light blue coating on the balancer rinses right off with carb cleaner. I cleaned it off, and there's no more noise.

I put this on a fresh rebuilt engine and it wobbles. Put it on with the proper installer--as I'm very detailed and picky about the work I do. The wobble isn't too bad but it wobbles--just hope the crank was properly turned.

Purchased a Dorman harmonic balancer, arrived fast with 2 days shipping, was about 50% of the cost of Pep Boys. The actual part was maybe a pound lighter than the factory harmonic balancer. I was initially concerned that it would cause the check engine light to come on. However, after installing it no issues, and no check engine light. So works for me...One thing of note, a lot of people propose different workarounds for removing and loosening the harmonic balancer bolt and avoiding using the special factory tools. Be very careful if you try to insert a bolt or pin into the two holes in the balancer and use that to prevent rotation of the crankshaft. This is a cast part, and can break under the large loads required to properly torque the bolt.

This is a problem area for Toyota 7AFE engines: heavy vibration at idle caused by a worn or damaged harmonic balancer, usually caused by doofus auto mechanics. My old balancer had a widened keyway, so no amount of torque would cure the problem. I could see that the whole balancer was wobbling on the crank. I bought the crank bolt too because the threads were damaged. I replaced the timing belt and water pump (recommended) at the same time. Two weekends work, very tight work space. This balancer costs less than half of the dealer price and has worked perfectly for me.

My mechanic wanted almost $300 for this part. And this was after he had already absorbed close to $600 in his "trial and error" method of replacing parts until finding the problem. Needless to say, I won't be using that mechanic again, but I will come back here for parts in the future!
