I don't believe this is the part you want if you are connecting the heater core hose to the intake manifold on a 2001 Ford Windstar. If you need the connector to work from the 3/4" tube coming out of the intake manifold to the 3/4" hose running to the heater core then I would suggest the Gates connector ... Part # 28502. The Gates connector worked for me and I have a separate review for that specific part.

Good fit for 2004 Suburban Z71. I replaced this preemptively when changing out the heater hoses, as I figured the stock unit was on borrowed time at 190k Miles. I was right to do that, because the stock unit pretty much crumbled apart in my hands when taking off the old heater hoses. This is an easy part to replace that will keep you from getting stranded on the side of the road.

My Ford must have been special made because the Parts Store in town suggested a different part, where as Dorman knew what they were talking about.

Nice, it got a couple of O-rings in the inside of it - you need to take the white part to see them in place. So I removed the old ones going "the hard way" because unfortunately I did not have the tool at that moment. So here what I did it without the tool.Once I got into the cab and had access to the heater core (dash removed) I had other guy pushing the two tubes from outoutside towards my direction inside of the cab. Once I had the old quick connects at sight on my hands (with this little foam cover/seal left off the way without cutting it), I had to break the old quick connects using some pliers; as plastic was worn out it was easy to do. But, if you get the tool would not be a bad idea. The only "advantage" removing from inside the cab, is that as I mention I had the old connections on my hands, seeing what I was doing. If you do it from outside the cab, you would struggle because there is no much room to manouver with the tool, not to mention you do...

I checked with Dorman technical support, and they do not show this part working for a 1999 Ford winstar at all. I tried a 800-404 and it did not fit. 800-404 is a 3/4 tube to 5/8 heater hose. The part needed that did fit was a Gates 28502 - 3/4 tube to 3/4 hose quick connect.

Please don't buy this. It will work, although only temporarily. I've had one that only lasted about 6 months. Then one morning, it broke in half. Get the brass fitting instead.

THis part is difficult to find locally and I was concerned about ordering it without comaparing to the original. It looks identical to the original and has been working for over a year. BTW: This part goes on the heater hose near the firewall on my 2000 Windstar.

These heater adapters are a necessary evil when working on 90's Chevrolet heater hoses. If your lucky, your old one came out without breaking off in the intake or water pump. If it breaks off in the water pump, you either get to buy a new pump and adapter, or get the special removal tool and hope for the best. If it breaks off in your intake, you are at the mercy of the removal tool. They sell adapters to get rid of this item and they use a regular hose barb, so you just convert to rubber hoses and get rid of the metal piece. However on my rear heat equipped Suburban, I dont feel like messing up the factory lines, so I am using one of these with a new water pump. If you do convert away from one of these, make sure your adapter has the same restriction orifice as this piece, they regulate flow through the heater cores.Take a minute to examine one of these and once you realize how the clips come out, they are simple to extract, and new ones really do go together with a snap.
