Saved money by buying our own car parts from AutoPartsWAY, rather than locally or from the dealer. This item worked like a charm, restoring our ability to open our car's front, and allow us to service it. We are satisfied.

Yes the word "HOOD" is upside down. Simple fix, pull it out as far as it will go and rotate it. Done! Mine is now right side up. The hole in the firewall needs to be drilled to 9/16 to allow the end of the cable to fit through. The rubber grommet fits nicely in the firewall for a tight seal.My hood now opens properly again. Yes it's made in china but you can thank American companies for that. Make some parts and give me the option to buy american. If I didn't have to fix hood pull I woulda given it 5 stars.

A little softer on the pull than OEM, but it works

Very easy to install. It is much tighter to pull the release now. Maybe I got used to the old one as it wore out it lost tension. But so far it works great. I didn't have to remove the battery or anything. Just a bit tight fit getting the old latch inside the car out. I have arthritis in my hands and still managed to change out the old to the new in about 20 minutes. Oh, I have a 2001 Mustang GT.

Cable works great, pain in the a** to change. All I needed was the lever; stupid design. But it's a Chevy, what else can I say?

It is a little tight with the release but it works which is what we bought it for.

And honestly better made than the OEMFitting these is a pain in the a$$. Hands will be scratched and new words added to the dictionary but overall, very happy it fits and performs nicely

This was perfect. When replacing your cable I recommend using safety wire (or a reasonable facsimile) to tie to the engine compartment end of old cable before you pull it through the fire wall. Then tie the wire to the engine end of the new cable and pull it through the fire wall. If you lube up the outer sheath with some silicone grease or sil-glide (NAPA) it will go through easily. This fix only took me about an hour and most of that was taking out the hood latch (which I reused) fender liner and head light. Hood releases just fine now.

This is exactly what it is described to be. It is NOT easy to install any of these cabled but this cable is an exact replacement from the OEM and works as it should

Sad the original was so cheap, but this one was more or less a direct replacement and is still doing the job. The real problem is in the latch mechanism, which rusts and makes the release cable work extra hard. Some oiling on a regular basis should help.

The cable is not a tight as the OE one was but it does the job. Next time I would just pony up the extra money and buy the OE one.

Got it right the first time, usually I have to return products like this two or three times before getting the right one.

I think I bought this for a 2003 taurus, was challenging to install, but that was due to ford design, have to remove inner fender liner to find where the cable goes though the firewall, make sure u tie a string to old cable as you pull it out and then tie string to New part to aid in installation, once New part was in it worked perfect.

Judging by the prices AutoPartsWAY charges for auto parts-I've been getting ripped off all these years by my local auto parts store.

The part worked great. The handle had broke off of the original latch, so we couldn't get the hood open. My son went online and found we could reach in and just cut the old one to get the hood opened. Then he installed it himself! We were also having trouble with the hood staying down on one side and it even seemed to help with that problem! The part came in like 36 hours! We were very impressed!!

Took a little time to install. I needed to take off the claw set up to latch the hood. Not sure if that was needed but made it very easy to install. Hardest part was fitting the rubber groment in the firewall hole. I can't believe I went a couple years of pulling the chord with plyers instead of just buying this product.

This item is listed as a match for Chevrolet, which is true as long as you don't mind having the handle sitting on the floor of your car because none of the five handles provided "most closely matches" (per the package instructions). The good news is I can open my hood again. Spend the extra buck or two for the OEM version.

The product needed to be already encase in a houseing. The greatest difficulty was threading the cable through the existing housing without destroying the new cable. Once installed it was okay. Another solution would be if the end of the cable were welded to prevent unraveling. Tape doesn't work.
