My mechanic gave up after replacing the plugs, wires, and distributor on my old Ford Ranger. 3 minute job, she starts with rock steady revs like straight-outta-dearborn.

Perfect replacement; however Engine controller was also found to be defective. Apparently when the coils in the IAC are shorted, it burns out the driver in the Engine Controller.

Bought the valve and then had AAA tow my car to their shop for an easy repair. Perhaps I missed it but it would be helpful to note that a gasket is required to go along with the part.

Had to replace the IAC valve on my 2001 Maxima 3x times previously. This is the fourth. This appears to be a recurring issue with these cars. In a worse case scenario, when the IACV goes, they take out the car's ECM also. I have used replacement Nissan IAC's purchased from the dealer at considerably higher cost. In the most recent case that particular valve went bad in just over a year after purchase. There clearly was no benefit to the additional cost. Fortunately, the last valve's failure did not take the car's computer out as was the case with the previous two (Utilized a modified Nissan ECM rebuilt specifically to prevent this). Since there is no apparent benefit to the additional cost of the Nissan dealer part, I have elected to utilize the Hitachi, which while not having the Nissan name on the box, is OEM specs. Roughly two months in. So far so good.
